Glossybox January 2013

Hello! Long time no see! I feel like I should take this opportunity to say that I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and happy New Year! I'm sorry that I haven't been giving as much attention to my blog recently, but as most of you are aware, I am a student at uni and it is currently exam season (my least favourite time of the year) I have had a lot of work to do, especially as I've been taking extra credit this semester and I've just needed to focus on my revision over Christmas. Fortunately I'm finally out of the exam zone so I can get back to dedicating more time to my blog, and I have quite a few exciting ideas buzzing around that I can't wait to pin down and get started with, including my new feature, Shoes on a Shoestring that I wrote about here! Anyway, last week I received this month's Glossybox, as you may have seen if you follow me on twitter! So I thought I'd get on and write about it whilst it's still relevant and get a little post out to give my blog some much needed lovin'!

So this month Glossybox's boxes were detox themed, which I thought was a really good idea being the first box of the year! I was excited to see the Elemis Fresh Skin skin glow exfoliating face wash anything that promises a glowing complexion, I'm like a moth to a flame, I can't resist! I liked that I have heard of the Elemis brand, but not their fresh skin range, so that's something that's certainly going on my list of things to check out, as it's in the perfect price bracket of nice to receive in a beauty box, but not so expensive I'm going to hate myself if I like it, if you know what I mean?... My only comment on this would be that I wish the sample size had been a little bit bigger (only because I really like the sound of the product and want to get as much out of it as I can!!) I also received the Duck Island Limited body lotion in mandarin and bergamot I'm not really such a body lotion fanatic, I like them and I use them and I do like to try new ones, but I don't know, they're not something that I really get very excited over and want to receive in my beauty boxes and I do perfer body butters because I think there's something a bit more luxurious (I wouldn't mind getting one of those in a Glossybox) that being said, it does smell very nice and quite fresh, so I might be pleasantly surprised. Again, I feel that the size is a little bit small, but I like that it's an unusual and luxury brand! The Premae Skincare balance rescue face tonic looks like a really interesting product, a sort of toner that de-congests the skin without stripping the skin. Again I feel like 30ml isn't such a big sample size for a luxury beauty box, however it isn't that much smaller than the full size 50ml that costs £27.50!! So I think I can let them off on that one! I'm also quite excited about the Monu warming aromatic mask because I've never tried a warming clay mask before, and I've heard such good things about the monu brand, it sounds like a great product and promises radiance, so I'm on board! I would have liked a bigger size again, just because this sounds good and I wish I had more of it to use!! The final product I received was the Jason lips bee healthier aloe and beeswax balm, I love lip balms so much, I actually have a beauty box full of them... And I love trying new ones! So this is a great thing for me to receive, the only problem was that when mine came it's a bit cracked and crumbly! I don't know whether it's just on the top or whether the rest of the balm is like that too? But it's almost as if it's a bit old or something? Anyway, I'll give it a go because it smells nice!! A final bonus product was the Glossybox sleep mask which I thought was a really cute little addition to the box and I actually don't own one of these, so it was a nice little finishing touch!

So that's everything I got in my box! Overall I think the products in this month;s box were great!! I love that they'd taken the time of year into consideration and done a detox box, and really thought about what a detox would include and sent out items that would be relevant to that, like exfoliators, face masks and tonics! There's a great mix of brands in there and luxury products, my only issue is the size of the samples!! I really wish some of them had been bigger because I feel more like I'm getting my moneysworth when I seen big bottles and tubes filling up the box haha!! But I'm really pleased with this month's products, I'm looking forward to the boxes in the year ahead!! So I'm going to say goodbye for now, for about a week and a half, I'll be back full throttle next weekend after my exams, and I'm counting down the days!!!

What do you think of thins month's Glossybox? Do you like the new format of my beauty box posts, or do you prefer the old one?
